Unlike many vicious outlaws who blame their wrong turn on poverty and abuse, Burt the Brute was born to wealth and privilege, and was never treated badly.  He was just born evil.  He removed his goldfish from their bowl when he was two, and simply went on from there.  He is the despair of his good parents and honest siblings.  He would just as soon rob a bank as eat breakfast, and he will shoot you if he doesn't like your looks.  He doesn't like anybody's looks.  Because of his totally depraved life, he expects to be more famous and venerated than Billy the Kid.
