At five years old, Jack's Pa runned oft and poor, little Jack found hisself the man of the house, taking care of his blind Ma and 10 sisters.  Jack resorted to thievery early on, stealing chickens from from ole lady McCracken's hen house, but surely he was bound to be caught, 'specially with McCracken's ole hound Whistler.  Well, late one night, Whistler got a going, and McCracken being the good shot she was, scared poor Jack till his hair curled!  After cleaning chicken houses for what seemed like an eternity for taking just 2 scrawny hens, Curly, as he was then called, met up with Black Jack, Curly was at the ripe old age of 11!  Black Jack taught him a few tricks of the trade and by the time Curly was 17 he was quite adept at robbing stagecoaches and taking purses from little old ladies.  After killing a man, Curly claimed self-defense, but the poor bloke he shot was mortally wounded.... in the back.....well, Curly decided to head out for parts unknown, not that the local Sheriff didn't have a part in that decision, especially since he chased Curly all over trying to track him down.  Finally Jack, as he now wants to be called has found himself in Tuckahoe City....and itching for that stagecoach to lumber on through!!!!
